My Experience

I was part of “Great Delhi Run” (7 Km).

I am lazy person but I always enjoyed watching the marathon & cycling marathons and other similar sports (read Olympic sports) always attracted and this year due to my Gall Stone operation I watched much more games as compared to earlier Olympics.

The Delhi Marathon always fascinated me but due to my laziness I had mental block to register but this time I decided to participate in Great Delhi Run (7 KM), though I am not fit & neither I am suppose to stress myself physically becoz only 3 months back I was on operation table. Considering all above I had decided to take it easy and went with clear mindset that even if I am not able to run no problem, I will walk. My motto was - IMPORTANT is to be part of run & enjoy myself and who cares how many people are ahead me.

I reached at 7.30 AM, though the reporting time for us was 8.30 AM. Bag checking and everything went smooth but I was very much surprised becoz no one asked me for my bib (Running number) and I noticed they were not asking anyone. Anywase the mood inside was good and we have seen flag off of 21 KM and all of us (Few thousand) clapped for REAL runner / athletes.

I was enthusiastic about costume runner but only a few tuned up and personally I felt very disappointed. This is my view and I don’t want to offend anyone.

The BEST part was to watch people who came for “SENIOR CITIZENS’ RUN”………..Run for Harmony……….. Hats off to these guys and their spirit and it was absolute delight to see them responding and coming.

Our run started on time and I walked most of the time and ran littttttle. I captured many pictures of the enthusiastic participant (Some were runners rest of us were there to participate). All pictures are uploaded on flickr.

In totality it was a good experience.
